Also in 2000, Q&R acquired a 35% stake in Computer
Solutions, an IT company providing health related software
applications and services, by scheduled participation of the former
in the share capital increase of the latter. This affiliation
is part of Q&R's investment plan to enter vertical IT markets.
The main target of this strategic move is the development of
co-operations in the area of Medical Informatics, since a considerable
increase in the number of new projects is expected in the following
years, mainly as part of the 3rd Framework Programme of the EU.
The programme "Information Society", concerning the
employment of new information technologies and of the Internet
for the modernization of the National Health Service, includes
a budget of 146.000.000 Euros for health services.
Computer Solutions was established in 1987 and until today has
managed to overtake a substantial share of the Greek medical software
systems market. More specifically, Computer Solutions has developed
an Integrated Information System "ASKLIPIOS - NOSOLISIS"
that includes a complete Medical Record that integrates with Administration
and Financial systems. The company also offers specialized applications
for Laboratories and health cards. "ASKLIPIOS - NOSOLISIS"
is an open architecture system and its next version (30/6/2001)
will be compatible with Internet technology (Web enabled).
